Aaron Anderson, Tufa Cast Bracelet, Kingman Turquoise, Navajo, 6 3/4

One of the earliest techniques of the Navajo silversmith was to use sandstone to design their work. When you open up a book of antique Navajo art you are going to see images of old sandcast jewelry. This recreation of those old classics is magnificent. Thick carved edges and earth textured silver really turn this into a rustic Southwest lifestyle piece. Right in the center of the carved blossom is a piece of beautifully webbed Kingman Turquoise. Navajo silversmith Aaron Anderson took some time to visit with us and we have posted the interview under artists on our website. He talks about learning sandcast techniques first and that eventually led him to tufa carving where he had more control over his designs. His variety of work is amazing and make sure you check out all the Aaron Anderson pieces on our online Trading Post, true pieces of Navajo treasure.
