Albert Haskie, Buckle, Number Eight Turquoise, Storyteller, Navajo Handmade, 1.5

Award-winning Navajo artist Vernon Haskie has begun to teach his son the art of jewelry making. Albert Haskie has made a handful of impressive pieces and seems to be inspired by the art of Navajo storytelling. The things you see when you cross the Navajo Nation are basketball hoops on the dirt driveways next to the family Hogan, sheep grazing in the wide open fields, gardens, pick-up trucks and the amazing high desert mesas. You will find all of these on these heavy sterling silver buckle. Plus, Albert places a piece of Number Eight Turquoise right in the center. The legendary Nevada rock showcases a deep blue that hosts a web of matrix. The stone work doesn't end with the centered rock, because you will find the edge of the buckle filled with more turquoise, lapis, sugilite and inlaid coral stones. We never now what the future holds for Albert, but it isn't pretty cool to get the first works of any artist.
