Author Stephen Amrbrose wrote Undaunted Courage the story of the Lewis and Clark expedition. It is a fascinating read and takes you to a time when nothing but the Native Americans occupied much of what is now the United States. He writes about these large herds of buffalo the expedition came across on the banks of the Missouri River. They stretched as far as the eye could see. Navajo artist Arland Ben celebrates the Buffalo in this magnificent buckle. He uses a combination of turquoise, sterling silver and 14k gold, with the large gold buffalo at the center of the piece. Arland places a stunning piece of Bisbee Turquoise above the roaming beauty. You will also find petroglyph inspired cutouts on the buckle. A great piece to add to your growing collection of Native American art.
