In case you have forgotten this was called a parallelogram in geometry class. It is always fascinating to look into a tray of stones and see all of the unique shapes the cutter has made. One of the reasons Navajo silver is so unique is because of the stones. If a Trading Post owner would have cut this stone they would have most likely made a rectangle, that is a great shape to put into handmade silver. However, the turquoise cutter doesn’t want to waste the stone and so he cuts a parallelogram, saving a few carats of rock. In the end we get this beautiful piece of Number Eight Turquoise and this incredible shape that gives the rock wonderful character. This Number Eight is filled with a spectacular sky blue color and hosts light brown spider web matrix. Navajo artist Harrison Jim has set the stone in a ring with a heavy silver border and fabulous split ring shank. Never again will you get the opportunity to own this piece, it is a stunning Navajo one-of-a-kind original.
