Hemerson Brown, Concho Belt, Open Center, Sterling Silver, Navajo Handmade, 53in

In the early days of Navajo silver because of the technology you find the concho belts usually had a cut out center. The reason was that no soldering was required. Navajo artist Hemerson Brown recreates that fascinating early day style with this is wonderful example. Of course Hemerson uses solder on all ten pieces, but the concho centers are designed with those cut out open centers just like first phase creations, the solder is on the copper backings to hold the silver to the leather. You will find deep traditional stamp designs on each piece, plus drilled holes. It is also amazing how much detail the buckle has. Hemerson uses a sunburst style pattern for the buckle. He has also finished the pieces with a rustic antique look that just makes the concho belt that much better. Imagine wearing this with that old worn leather boots and denim jeans.
