Navajo artist Lee Begay uses the Yei design in many pieces of his art. The Yei is a Navajo Holy Person who exists between two worlds. It makes sense that this spiritual figure would be the inspiration behind so many pieces of Navajo art. This gorgeous buckle was made using tufa casting techniques. Lee uses cuts of beautiful spider web turquoise to make eyes and a mouth. Plus, carved sand painting inspired lines surround the inlay. We have Yei bracelets that would make a great set with this buckle, something to think about.
