Aaron Anderson, Tufa Cast Ring, Navajo Saddle Blanket Design, Handmade, 8 1/2
Like many other Native American cultures, the Navajo are considered horse people. You can’t get very far in the Four Corners without coming across horses and rodeo arenas. Some of the first pieces of silver the Navajo made were for their horses. A bridle from the 1800s can cost several thousand dollars. It was only silver that the Navajo used to decorate their horses, but saddle blankets would also become very important. They would be woven in some vibrant colors and unique patterns, and many times they would display balls at the corners. Navajo silversmith Aaron Anderson uses that saddle blanket for the inspiration behind this unique ring. Check out the online Trading Post for more of his creations.
