Ron Bedonie, Pendant, Egyptian Turquoise, Silver, Navajo Handmade, 2 5/8"
Ancient civilizations worshipped the sun, and it is where Sunday gets its name. In Christianity the Sabbath falls on a Sunday, a day of rest. It makes sense that the Sun was central to early civilizations because it is where life comes from. One theory for the end of the dinosaurs is meteorite crash into earth blocked out the sun. The Navajo where considered a nomadic people, unlike the pueblo tribes who grew crops. However, the sun plays a significant role in Navajo life and decorates their art. This burst of rays in this silver pendant honor that tradition. Navajo silversmith Ron Bedonie makes this amazing piece of silver and stone. The gorgeous rock is a cut of Egyptian Turquoise that shows off a spectacular blue with a thick web of black matrix. Ron makes great pieces of wearable art.
