Philander Begay, Concho Belt, Pueblo Dancers, Tufa, Navajo Handmade, 45"

Philander Begay, Concho Belt, Pueblo Dancers, Tufa, Navajo Handmade, 45"
The Pueblo Tribes of the Rio Grande Valley have a number of ceremonies during the year. Navajo artist Philander Begay is an award-winning artist known for his Pueblo culture inspired works of art. His work is done in a tufa casting technique that he has mastered, plus he is an equally accomplished lapidary artist. He fills each piece of the belt with dancers, all of them surrounded by a border of inlaid turquoise. The buckle that leads all the dancers is a detail carving of the Pueblo. Philander adds nice finishing touches like a 14k gold moon, coral inlaid belts, and incredible detail. We are fortunate enough to have a collection of Philander's work if you are looking for more. This belt comes with the Blue Ribbon it won at the Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial.
