It comes down to taste. If you picked up an old publication talking about turquoise you would think that a pure robin egg blue would be the best piece of turquoise, free of any matrix. Today, it seems Native American jewelry collectors and artists are all about the matrix. The most valuable piece of turquoise, Lander Blue is filled with a heavy spider web matrix. Navajo artist Darryl Dean Begay loves turquoise and is happy to work with a variety of different looks, he just wants them to be quality rocks. His favorite is probably Lone Mountain Turquoise, and this amazing stone found in this ring is another good-looking Nevada stone. Apache Blue Turquoise is an Otteson claim and produces some incredible blue and blacks. It looks right at home on the tufa cast ring.
