Tewa artist Shirley Benn made this fascinating bolo tie. She is famous for her maiden pieces, but they are usually done in a pin/pendant style instead of a bolo tie. Most people are fascinated by the style of hair that the Hopi Maiden will wear and it has been made legendary from early Edward Curtis black and white photographs. This is to show that she is not married and available to marry. Shirley has decorated the maiden with gorgeous turquoise earrings and a unique stone chocker necklace. You will love the traditional dress of the maiden that has been created using spiny oyster shells, malachite, mother of pearl shell and jet. We get a very limited number of Shirley's pieces so if you have been looking for her work this is an opportunity to add a very collectible piece to your collection.
