Julian Chavez, Ring, Persian Turquoise, Sterling Silver, Navajo Handmade, 9 1/2
Julian Chavez, Ring, Persian Turquoise, Sterling Silver, Navajo Handmade, 9 1/2
Navajo artist Julian Chavez takes us back in time with this beautiful turquoise ring. It starts with the oval cut of Persian Turquoise. In John Adair's The Navajo and Pueblo Silversmith he talks about when the first turquoise was used in Navajo silver. No one knows exactly but he does talk about John Lorenzo Hubbell ordering Persian Turquoise in the late 1800s for that reason. Julian has mastered the old style Navajo silver look. He has surrounded the stone with twisted wire and a rustic antique brushed finish. The ring shank has a three split style that leads into a thin tapered band made for comfort. A great everyday ring for the Native American art enthusiast.
