Julian Chavez, Bracelet, Purple Sugilite, Ingot, Stamping, Navajo Handmade, 7"
This bracelet reminds of the work the late Thomas Curtis use to create. Not many silversmiths now how to take such a thick piece of silver, and give it all this design. Julian Chavez is a student of Navajo silver and his skills have been passed down through generations. He begins by using an old technique that begins by pouring melted silver into a crucible to form a rectangle ingot Next, a combination of hammering and heat transform the ingot into a bracelet shape. Julian fills the wide silver cuff with traditional stamp designs and the silver has been given the rustic brushed finish. All of that work shows off a fascinating deep purple sugilite stone. Great silver deserves an appreciative home.
