Derrick Gordon, Bracelet, Heavy, Stamping, Silver Ingot, Navajo Handmade, 6 7/8"

When you hear the term ingot associated with Navajo silver it has a very important meaning. It is talking about a technique that goes back to the first days of Navajo jewelry making before you had the convenience of silver supply houses. The silversmith would take Mexican silver coins and melt them into a crucible to create a rectangle slug. Then the pain staking task of heat and pounding the silver into the desired shape would begin. This bracelet begins with a very thick piece of sterling silver that creates one solid feeling cuff. Derrick fills the heavy silver with an array of cutouts that create a gorgeous pattern. You will be impressed by the number of pieces that make up the design. Derrick finishes the cuff by stamping the inside of the piece with a traditional Navajo pattern, enjoy wearing this great piece of wearable art.
