The Southwest was built on trade. You still see the existence of old trade routes when you fly low over the Four Corners. Archaeologists believe Chaco Canyon and Mesa Verde were major trade centers. Some of the items found in these ancient trade centers revealed just how far and extensive the trade routes were. Today it is not any different. The materials found in Navajo silver come from around the world. This magnificent turquoise bracelet was made by talented Navajo silversmith Hank Vandever. The stone wasn't found in the mountains of Nevada or Arizona, but from a land where turquoise has been used for several thousand years. The Chinese stone has a bluish green color that is filled with a thick black colored webbing. Hank sets the stone on a heavy five-wire bracelet shank and surrounds the rock with twisted wire, stamped cutouts and large silver drops. A great cuff that will look very impressive on.
