Gallup, New Mexico was named for David Gallup. He was the paymaster on the southern transcontinental rail route. The laborers would say, “let’s go to Gallup to get paid”. Growing up with the train has always meant we would be a trading town. That continues today and we have people come from all over the world to buy Native American art.
