Aaron John, Bracelet, Indian Village, Multi-Stone, Navajo Handmade, 6 3/8”
Imagine exploring the Missouri River Valley 200 years ago and finding a Sioux encampment. Teepees for as far as they can see. Woman outside working the hides from the latest buffalo hunt, men riding their painted horses, and the smell of food in the air. That is the image Navajo artist Aaron John is evoking with the design of this incredible cuff. Two rows of teepees stretch from one end of the cuff to the other. Aaron sets colorful turquoise, lapis, coral, jet, and spiny oyster shells to bring color to the creation, just like those painted horses. A mirror shine and stamp work really bring out the overlay design. We have a collection of Aaron’s work in the online Trading Post, check them out.
