Navajo artist Kenneth Begay is associated with names like Fred Peshlakai and Ambrose Roanhorse (Lincoln). The Zuni People have Leekya Deyuse, the Hopi People have Charles Loloma, and the Navajo has Kenneth Begay. This is the artist that inspired creativity and innovation by not doing things how they were expected to be done. He made a piece of jewelry that was inspired by how he saw the world, not by something in a showcase. Perry has taken this out of his vault, you don’t get the opportunity that often to own a piece of Kenneth Begay. The necklace is a 1950 – 1960s piece that has a gorgeous Last Chance rock that has a magnificent Nevada blue with a heavy black matrix running across it. Kenneth has placed the stone in a portrait setting and surrounded it with a repeating circular stamp pattern. The pendant hangs from amazing melon beads and strung on heavy yarn. One look and you know the piece is Kenneth Begay, this would be a great acquisition for a museum, so don’t miss your chance to own it.
