Navajo artist Michael Perry use to be a regular in the Gallup area, but when you make amazing pieces like he does it is not long before you head to places like Santa Fe, Sedona, and Scottsdale. His style even grabbed the attention of legendary Hopi artist Jesse Monongye who showed Michael some different techniques. Jesse along with his brother Preston grew up on the Hopi Reservation and it is reflected in the work. Maybe that was the inspiration behind this piece by Michael, which is really different than his other work. He combines Acoma jet, coral and turquoise to make this fascinating Longhair Kachina pendant.
