For two decades the movie stars of Hollywood would stay in Gallup, New Mexico during filming. The historic El Rancho Hotel sits right on old Highway 66 and is a popular place for tourists to stay. Today the movie production has moved down the Interstate to Albuquerque, but that doesn't mean we are short on stars. Collectors from around the world come to Gallup looking for amazing pieces of art. Navajo artist Rebecca Begay is today's Gallup star. She makes magnificent pieces of carved tufa jewelry. This bracelet is a fabulous example of her work and represents contemporary art wonderfully. A piece of Blue Gem Turquoise sits in the center of the blossom with spectacular carved vines spreading to the ends of the cuff.
