When I visit places like Hopi I am always fascinated. The place has such an amazing history and these people were here long before the rest of us. I always wonder why a farming people decided to settle in the dry high plateau of northeast Arizona when they could have had dibs on any number of areas, ones much closer to a consistent water source. They are driven by prophecy over location, and this is where they were led after their migration. A beautiful culture that is captured in Ruben Saufkie's work.
