Navajo artist Thomas Jim doesn't make jewelry, but instead makes pieces of wearable art. Every piece of this necklace was planned. The combination of saucer and barrel beads are perfect. Simple lines decorated the heavy barrels. You will notice the naja is a combination of styled drops, cutouts, twisted wire and traditional Navajo stamp work. Thomas shapes the naja in a classic narrow shape. Then he gives the naja a mirror shine while the beads have a more rustic brushed finish, that combination seems unusual but works magnificently. As soon as you pick this necklace up you know that you are holding something very special. Check out the online Trading Post for more of Thomas Jim wearable art.
