Vintage Turquoise Beads, Necklace, Mediterranean Coral, Circa 1960s, Navajo, 28”
Vintage Turquoise Beads, Necklace, Mediterranean Coral, Circa 1960s, Navajo, 28”
Navajo silversmith Edison Sandy Smith talks about how when he was young his parents would spend hours making heishe and drilling turquoise beads. We think of this style as being one of a kind, but a number of Navajo smiths made their own beads. This incredible four strand necklace is from the 1960s and beautifully done. It is a combination of coral and Kingman turquoise. The turquoise is a combination of small pieces to give it that unique look. It is completed with a classic yarn wrap.
