Zuni artists Mary & Lee Weebothee could have been the most innovative and creative artists of their time. This husband and wife team made many fascinating pieces of traditional cluster art and contemporary inlay. You will not find their hallmark on this belt, but the style of silver work and precise cut stones reveal their work. They have filled the large nine piece belt with four different sized cuts of rock. The stones are pieces of classic American rock, Lone Mountain Turquoise. Many Zuni artists wanted this stone because they could get an almost pure blue color with no matrix. You don?t see many pieces by Mary & Lee come available, so if you have been wanting to add them to your First American made treasures don?t let this wonderfully made museum quality belt escape you.
