In the late 1800s a Navajo silversmith taught a Zuni artist, Lanyade, the art of jewelry making. It wouldn?t be silver that defined the Zuni silversmith, but instead his mastery of stone. Styles like inlay and small needlepoint have become what the Zuni artist is known for. Plus, they take the time to make small pieces of art that are very different from the large works of the Navajo. This fun to wear pin has been turned into a lovely caterpillar. The artist has filled the piece with turquoise, jet and shell inlay. Mirror shined silver feet and antennas complete the piece.?4.3 grams
