Arland Ben, Concho Belt, Revival, Sterling Silver, Navajo Handmade, 60''

Arland Ben, Concho Belt, Revival, Sterling Silver, Navajo Handmade, 60''
The first Navajo concho belts made had certain characteristics. We call them Phase One belts and you can identify them by the small simple buckle, large conchos and no soldering. Navajo artist Arland Ben is a student of traditional Navajo silver. He has been inspired to recreate this classic, and he has done it very similar to the way the first belts were made. The large conchos and buckle have all been cut out in the middle, a technique that requires no soldering. He fills all of the silver with exquisite stamp work. You will find tight lines and traditional patterns on the silver pieces. Arland finishes the belt with a mirror shine and places each piece on appealing genuine brown leather. You might have an easier time finding an original first phase concho belt than an Arland creation, he just doesn't make many of these amazing pieces.
