Kelsey Jimmie, Concho Belt, Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial, Navajo Handmade, 46"
Every year Gallup, New Mexico hosts the Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial. Tribes from around the country and world make their way to Gallup to show off their culture. Talented Navajo tufa cast artist Kelsey Jimmie made this fascinating concho belt to honor this tradition. The magnificent piece is created by carving into a tufa stone and then pouring silver into the design, creating a very unique style of art. You will be blown away by the detail of all the dancers, and they include Eagle, Buffalo, Crown and Hoop dancers. Natural setting can be seen carved into the background, including Pueblos and mesas. This nine piece concho belt is another great example of how the different Native American cultures of the Southwest influence the art of the Navajo.
